A fundraiser for the effigy-building team for Burning Flipside, May 2007
Burning Flipside, more commonly known as Flipside, is the local Burning Man-style event in the Austin, TX area. In May 2007 they had a party to raise money for the team that was building the effigy. The effigy is what gets burned down at every burn event, giving this type of events their name.
Rubens’ tube. The flames along the length of the tube are supposed to dance to the sound. Somebody observed they were mostly reacting to the rhythm, while the melody escaped them.
The fashions here were similar to what you would see at Flipside. Here is a person in a mesh top with hair colored in red and green and opposite-side eyebrows painted green and red.
This is the head of the effigy that would appear at this year’s Flipside.

And another: a black dress with a belt holding an intricate system of pockets; purple boots
