A trip to Boston, MA, in July of 2006

In July 2006 I visited my old friends D and her husband R, who live in a suburb of Boston in Massachusets. I did a lot of sightseeing around Boston old town, Cambridge, MIT and Harvard campuses. We also went to Readercon, a science fiction convention in Boston, where the guests of honor were authors James Morrow and China Mieville.

Here are some buildings in the MIT campus that look as if they have been twisted and warped by an otherwordly force, erupting from other dimensions. That’s the right frame of mind to get into before meeting China Mieville, because similar things have been known to happen in his books.
