ArmadilloCon 2007, Saturday: people and costumes
Two congoers in kilts at ArmadilloCon 2007. While kilts are popular at the ArmadilloCon and science fiction conventions in general, I had not until then seen a couple in matching kilts.
Writer Sharon Shinn, dining Chez Consuite. ArmadilloCon Consuite always had delicious goodies for lunch and dinner, thanks to some dedicated volunteers who cook all that.

I really liked this woman’s outfit, so I took a picture of her, and only then I noticed the t-shirt the guy was wearing. It said “if you are not careful, you’ll end up in my novel”. Well, he already ended up in my pictures, so I guess if I end up in his novel, it will be an infinite recursion, like two mirrors reflecting each other? Or a Hofstadter-like strange loop? Escher’s two hands drawing each other?

A koala (?) family presides over the partygoers at the Australian 2010 WorldCon bid party at ArmadilloCon 2007. To the left it’s Debbie Lynn Smith.
Entertainers in SF cliche costumes at the Space Squid / RevolutionSF.com party at ArmadilloCon 2007. I didn’t think they were part of the fandom; rather, they were providing a purely decorative function to the party. Perhaps the costumes were ironic, making fun of how women were portrayed in old science fiction movies or on book covers? And, hard as it is to believe, I didn’t see many people engaging them in a conversation.
Shai, the chair of next year’s ApolloCon, and Mark Hall, the chair of this year’s ApolloCon, were holding the fort at the ApolloCon party on Saturday night at ArmadilloCon 2007.
A fan with a fan. Her name is Roxanne. Seen at the ApolloCon party.
